Escape the Fate, Word Alive and Patient Sixty-Seven live at Magnet House, Perth | 09 June 2026

Magnet House was packed out to the brim with punters frothing over the main acts on display for the night. With a hefty helping of Escape the Fate, alongside supports Patient 67 and World Alive as a part of their Australian tour. There was an ocean of black tees, jeans and eyeliner to signify that the heavy folks were ready to headbang their way to musical Valhalla.

Patient 67 started off the night with loud thunderous guitars and just as intense guttural screams. They didn’t find much challenge in trying to amp up the crowd early. Who appeared to be already jacked up to fifth gear. Although there was a little hesitation with punters on getting close to the stage. Like coaxing a in a nervous flock of sheep. Vocalist Tom Kiely expressed gratitude to the crowd for supporting live music and coming down to support them.

Hailing from overseas, American band The Word Alive were equally rapturous. Providing punters with an intense dose of metalcore. Comprised with the standard fare of emotional yelling, guitar power chords that expressed more Newtonian force than a Japanese earthquake. Exercising Moses level crowd control, frontman Tyler Smith directed punters to raise their hands into the air and split into two separated groups, which smashed into each other a second later, turning into a maelstrom of human bodies and a thrashing mosh pit. It was amusing to see some of the other punters escape the ‘ground zero’ of the mosh zone, like an impending tsunami.

The metal-o-dial was possibly broken by the time Escape the Fate came onto the stage. With punters eager for more. Their live set was incredibly fun to listen to and watch. Everything was gratuitously metal. Whether it was the screaming whose pitch exceeded most flora and fauna in the Brazilian rainforest. Or guitar solos that just kept going, and could generate its own energy simply from how hot the riffs were. The performance was wild as it was cheeky and tongue-in-cheek. A wild rollercoaster ride of metal and punk rhythms.
At the end of the gig, lead singer Craig Mabbit announced a little bit of trivia and band history to the crowd. Citing that Australia was where the band first did their overseas tour. And giving special acknowledgment to the punters who were there 17 years ago, and were attending in the present day. Paying lip service to the bands impressive following and loyal fanbase. However, there was an apt comment from Mabbit about growing older. Citing the band were losing count of the years the band had been playing for. But reminded punters their spines would remember.
Finishing off with a double encore of ‘The Aftermath’ and ‘One for the Money’. There was a kickass solo from Matti Hoffman, who heralded the end of the night with an ecstatically frothing riff. Rocking out one last time, everyone went wild to the ecstatic furore that was Escape the Fate.
