Walmatjarri and Bunuba hip-hop artist Kayps visited Perth's Rosemount Hotel to celebrate his critically acclaimed debut album, 'Bunuba Baby'.
Kayps performed his entire new album back-to-back, showcasing his remarkable ability to navigate through a multitude of genre shifts with ease. The performance varied seamlessly between reggae, rock, rap, and jazzy beats, highlighting his versatility as an artist. His rapid-fire rapping was particularly remarkable; he executed verses at lightning speed while maintaining clarity in his lyrics, ensuring that every word resonated with the listeners.
His songs had a heavy feel to them since all of his songs have a deep meaning to them, and were a testament to his thoughtful songwriting. He was not shy about telling the crowd about the backstory of his songs. He is very proud to be Aboriginal and not afraid to speak up and spread awareness about struggles of identity and race.
